Tanguy Renaud-Goud is a prominent French athlete specializing in paragliding and mountaineering. His passion for endurance sports has led him to explore disciplines such as climbing, cross-country skiing, and cycling.
He began flying with his father at the age of 12, joined the Rhône-Alpes regional league team to start competing, and later trained at the prestigious Pôle France. Since then, he has achieved remarkable milestones as a paraglider pilot. In April 2024, he set a
new world record in Hike & Fly (for the second time in a row), gaining 17,534 meters of vertical ascent in just 23 hours in Samoëns, France.
During this challenge, he climbed the Vertical Kilometer route 22 times up to the launch point of Le Criou mountain, gaining 800 meters of elevation each time, then flew back down by paraglider. He relied on gear specifically designed for Hike & Fly by Niviuk: the
Kode P wing (1.8 kg), the
Roamer 2 P harness (205 g), and the
Expe 30 backpack (480 g). At night, he switched to the
Skin 3 P, a single-surface wing ideal for tailwind take-offs.
His strength in mountain ascents became even more evident in the world’s toughest Hike & Fly competition: the
Red Bull X-Alps. Tanguy made his debut in 2023 as a rookie, finishing in an impressive 10th place. He flew with the
Klimber 3 P,
Arrow P Race, and
Expe Race backpack—gear tailored for top-level performance. He is now preparing for his second consecutive edition of the race in 2025. He has also achieved great results in other competitions such as
X-Red Rocks,
Bornes to fly,
X-Pyr,
Fly Chablais Challenge, among others, as well as in the
Paragliding World Cup circuit and the Superfinal.
