The new R-Bus 2 breaks the current world record
Niviuk pilot and distributor Eduardo Lagoa, together with Carla Alves, have broken the tandem trike world record by achieving a 469 km* FAI triangle with the new R-Bus 2 wing. This new Niviuk tandem paramotor has not even been on the market for a month and it is already achieving historic flights.
"I had the opportunity to test Niviuk's new flying machine, the R-Bus 2, and I realised what great advances have been achieved, and that it allowed us to attain the new flying goals we had in mind. To be able to break a world record on our first flight with it is even more special," explains Eduardo.

Taking off with the
R-Bus 2
On the 20th March 2023, Eduardo went to Safara (Portugal) with all the equipment, took off and spent 8:45 hours in the air until he landed after performing an FAI triangle, and breaking the world record. "When it was time to take off, I thought: Am I ready to go? I'm taking off for the first time with the new R-Bus 2, in a completely unfamiliar place, with a lot of fuel on board and with the aim of breaking the world record," he says excitedly. The beginning of the flight was very calm, "but around 12:45 it became very thermic, and conditions were tricky so we had to forget about the beautiful scenery and pay attention to the clouds. I had to fly very actively, because the thermals were strong, but the R-Bus 2 was very responsive," says Eduardo.
A record-breaking flight
"At the first opportunity I had a 3 m/s thermal, I turned to gain a few hundred metres and when I lost it, I carried on, but then I took two more good thermals and climbed up to 2500 m altitude. Then we went back to that relaxing flying that allowed us to see the whole Alentejo landscape from above the clouds, which made is even more beautiful. We flew for about 2 hours above 2000 m, we were already starting to get cold, and the doubts set in - but we had a goal to reach! We were still on schedule to reach 500 km, but as the hours passed we became concerned about the possibility of running out of fuel. Since we already had a chance to break the record, we decided to turn around at Nisa and head for the landing". "It was very gratifying to do the flight with the R-Bus 2 and to do it alongside my partner Carla. We will never forget those moments we had up there," he concludes.

Another record with the Kougar 3
Just five days earlier, on the 15th of March, Eduardo achieved another national record in Portugal with the Niviuk Kougar 3 paramotor glider, flying a foot-launched 460.90 km FAI triangle. "I don't even know what to say, I just know that I am very privileged to be able to fly for a living and do what I love the most".
