Let’s start at the beginning

Hike & fly has been popular for many years and, with the development of the first prototype of our current Kode P, the aim was to design a glider suitable for this discipline: it had to be very light, compact and easy to fly. 

The Kode P was developed following the philosophy of all our P Series (featherlight) products. This range is specifically aimed at all pilots who are looking for maximum lightness in their flying equipment, without having to compromise on quality or durability, to be able to practice mainly hike & fly, among other disciplines. 

Our range already featured hike & fly models, such as our single-surface Skin or the Ikuma P, but we wanted a lighter, easier and more durable glider. We achieve this through a combination of materials and an internal architecture that ensure an optimal compromise between lightness and durability.

This is the result of the initial Kode P certification: from size 16 to 26, with only one weight range, most of them were EN A approved. Depending on the weight in flight, size 16 was certified EN B and size 18 is both EN A and EN B certified. 

Its EN A certification in most sizes made it a perfect choice for most hike & fly pilots. All of them were delighted with this wing, which encouraged us increase the weight ranges per size.

The variation in weight ranges also necessitated a change in the certification, depending on the flying weight within the same size. 

Therefore, in a second phase we are introducing two smaller sizes of the Kode P, 12 and 14, with a new certification: EN 926-1.

Eight sizes, different weight ranges, certification and uses

So what does this mean?  

The great versatility of this glider is the number of sizes and the all-up weight that each one of them can take. 

Depending on whether the size is smaller or larger, the behaviour of the glider varies, so it may be more suitable for one type of flying or another. 

In addition, sizes 16 and 18 have been designed and approved to take different all-up weights, so there are different certifications depending on these weights. 

Below, we explain the difference between the different sizes. 
 

Sizes 12 and 14 - the most agile and playful

In these two sizes, we have classified the Kode P as a speedwing. It is a real fun wing, and the most important thing is to play with it. Manoeuvrable, fast and precise, as well as stable and light. Size 12 only weighs 1.55 kg! 

Both sizes are EN 926-1 certified and have a maximum all-up weight of 110 kg. 

The use of Dokdo 25 g/m2 on all surfaces of these sizes has been combined with the new Nitinol, facilitating a more compact and faster packaging. 

Sizes 16 and 18 - the in-betweeners

As explained above, the all-up weight is crucial in these sizes when certifying the glider as an EN A, EN B or EN C glider.
 

• Size 16: EN B (certified all-up weight range is 45-70 kg) and EN C (certified all-up weight range is 70-90 kg).
• Size 18: EN A (certified all-up weight range is 50-70 kg), EN B (certified all-up weight range is 70-80 kg) and EN C (certified all-up weight range is 80-100 kg).

Sizes 20, 22, 24 and 26 - take it easy

These are the quintessential sizes of the Kode P. All of them have been certified EN A. They are the ones that sum up the main objective of the creation of this glider: our R&D team wanted a stable and easy hike & fly wing and with these they exceeded the expectations of pilots by far. 

With these sizes you can enjoy a pleasant, docile and intuitive flight. Progressive turns, plus very efficient climbing in thermals. 

Its design guarantees precision handling, thus achieving first-class performance. 

The Kode P in these sizes has definitely become the best adventure companion for many hike & fly pilots.
