What is hike & fly?

Hike & fly is an activity that fuses two apparently contradictory elements: hiking and paragliding. Participants start by hiking in mountainous areas with their paragliding equipment, which is generally lighter and very compact to make the ascent easier. When they reach a suitable location on a mountaintop or high point, they unfold their wings and launch themselves into the air. They enjoy a thrilling flight that allows them to admire the beauty of nature from breathtaking heights and descend wherever they want. 

Pilots all highlight the sense of freedom they experience when combining the physical exertion of hiking with the adrenaline rush of flying, and accessing remote and little explored places. They can enjoy spectacular panoramic views and have a true connection with nature.

Specialised equipment and training

In order to practice hike & fly safely, it is essential to have the right equipment and the right training. Experience in hiking and paragliding is required, as well as a sound knowledge of weather conditions and flying techniques. The paragliding equipment used is usually lighter and easier to transport.

Wing: Kode P

From 1.55 kg, it is specifically designed for hike & fly. The combination of materials used and the internal structure of the wing guarantee the optimum compromise between lightness and durability. Its versatility will allow you to have all kinds of adventures: fly-downs, thermals and even flying in windy conditions without compromising your safety and comfort. It is ultralight and has a great ability to take off from all types of terrain.

Harness: Roamer 2 P

At just 189 g, this is Niviuk's lightest and simplest harness. It is very comfortable, even when flying with a heavy backpack or skis, and the shoulder straps are adjustable. Its ergonomic structure adapts perfectly to the body, and its integrated connection system makes pre-flight preparation simple, as well as reducing the weight. Nitinol rods in the back and leg loops offer excellent comfort. It can be easily stored its bag, while maintaining its ultra-compact shape. You won’t even notice you are wearing it!

Backpack: Expe 30

This is a technical backpack designed specifically for outdoor activities. It offers great comfort and versatility. Its storage capacity allows you to carry all the necessary equipment, such as the wing, helmet, harness and other accessories. Ergonomic design and adjustable straps ensure proper weight distribution and exceptional comfort during long hikes. With dedicated compartments and pockets, it helps keep equipment organised and easily accessible at all times. 

Parachute: Kase P 

This is a light frontal parachute container. It is the optimal accessory to add an emergency parachute (not included) to your hike & fly flying equipment. Safety is always of utmost importance.

Accessory: NK Soft Flask

Niviuk's lightweight and flexible bottle, ideal for carrying water comfortably on a hike, it reduces in volume as you drink and can be compressed to the maximum when empty. Easy to carry and use.
